The Sunny ASUNA 4300 elliptical machine is designed for low to medium-intensity exercises. It isn’t a simple model since it has an automated resistance system and various training routines.

It’s a machine comparable to the Gold’s Gym 350i or the Exerpeutic 1000XL. Although it was introduced in 2016, it’s very recent.

The ASUNA 4300 elliptical machine is not as huge as comparable versions like the SOLE E35 or ProForm 735. It barely takes up 57″L x 22″W (145 x 56 cm) of floor space, so it should fit into even the tiniest of spaces.

Its frame is sturdy steel tubing and features a straightforward, non-folding design. Its assembled weight is around 129 lbs (58.5 kg), implying that receiving the delivery, unpacking, and assembly may need two persons.

However, because the machine’s front base is fitted with caster wheels, it is easy to handle and transport when completely completed. You won’t be managing more than half of its entire weight if you use these wheels to move it.

The triangular base tubes on this Sunny Health & Fitness elliptical trainer provide a lot of stability. They’re completed with heat-injected plastic protective covers and a pair of rubberized foot stabilizers on each one.

As a result, given its weight and base tube structure, the machine is extremely stable. It should not shift or wobble even if you do a more constant workout.

The frame’s steel sections are covered with corrosion-resistant silver paint, the sole color available. PVC is used sparingly in its construction, except for the base tube covers, drive system shrouds, and pedals.

There are two types of handlebars on this ASUNA elliptical machine: moveable and fixed. Both feature a simplistic design with extended handles wrapped in a sheet of rubber foam for added comfort.

Thanks to stainless steel pulse sensors built into the fixed handlebars, the console can track your heart rate.

Ball bearings are used at the connection locations of the mobile bars to the crossbar and the pedal bars to provide a smoother action.

The machine’s pedals are heavy-duty PVC and can support people weighing 265 pounds (120 kg). Their surface is ribbed for better adhesion to your footwear, and it’s gently bent upward for a more natural foot positioning.

Suspension and articulation components are not included in the pedals. On the other hand, the pedal bars may be locked in three places.

Step-up Height

First and foremost, this machine lacks an inclination mechanism. It does, however, provide some flexibility in terms of stride length.

As previously stated, the pedal arms offer three locations where the pedals can be secured. As a result, you may have a 14″ (35.5 cm), 15″ (38 cm), or 16″ (40.6 cm) stride depending on which pair of holes you attach the pedals too.

Please keep in mind that the stride does not adapt automatically. To benefit from a varied stride length, you remove the pedals and re-connect them in a different set of holes.

With a maximum stride length of 6’0″ – 6’1″, this elliptical trainer is a suitable fit for people up to 6’0″ – 6’1″. (178-180 cm). Taller users can, of course, utilize the machine, but the stride may be too short for them.

The pedals are 8″ (21 cm) above the floor at their lowest position. They’re roughly 7-8 inches taller at their tallest point. As a result, operating the machine in a room with a ceiling at least 20″ higher than your height is advisable to avoid any ceiling height concerns.

Resistance

Sunny Health & Fitness is a health and fitness center in Sunnyvale, California. The resistance system of the ASUNA 4300 elliptical machine is motorized and electrically assisted.

This implies that it must be linked to a power circuit to modify resistance. The machine comes with a power adapter, which connects to the back of the machine through a cable.

Only the machine’s console may be used to modify resistance. The resistance mechanism is a metallic, magnetic flywheel and a tiny servo motor. The servo will change the magnets’ pull on the flywheel according to the resistance level selected from the console.

There are 16 resistance settings on this elliptical trainer. The lowest resistance levels are very mild, making them ideal for recovery training or senior users, while the higher levels allow for more strenuous exercises.

However, this is not a piece of heavy-duty commercial-grade equipment, and it can only be used for low to medium-intensity workouts.

Because it has a magnetic resistance mechanism, the transmission is belt-driven and uses a J6(430) v-belt.

This indicates that the machine runs smoothly and quietly, nearly silently, and that the gearbox does not need to be lubricated. In addition, the elliptical’s flywheel is balanced, providing a smooth, steady motion.

If you were wondering, the ASUNA 4300 allows you to reverse pedal, thereby doubling the number of workouts you can complete on it.

When cycling in reverse, the resistance is maintained at the level set on the panel. Additionally, the console will continue to log your exercise data even if you pedal backward.

Last but not least, this elliptical machine has a relatively narrow Q Factor, resulting in a comfortable ride with less lateral knee stress.

Console

The console unit with the ASUNA 4300 has many more features than the ordinary device. To begin with, it boasts a multi-panel LCD with an integrated blue LED backlight that is rather wide.

This means it can simultaneously display numerous exercise values on the screen and has exceptional readability, especially in dim lighting.

Time, speed, distance, calories, pulse, RPM, watts, and, of course, the resistance system selected are all displayed on the screen.

Only the sensors included in the fixed handlebars may be used to read pulse. Polar or other wireless HR chest strap transmitters are not compatible.

It offers five pre-programmed routines as well as a manual mode. Beginner, Advanced, Sporty, Cardio, and Watt are available workouts. Some have four difficulty levels, such as the Cardio mode, 55 percent, 75 percent, 90 percent, and TAG (target HR).

The Manual mode allows you to work out at your own pace, changing resistance as needed during your workout. It also offers time, distance, and calorie target options.

A Recovery and a Body Fat feature are also available on the console. The Recovery program determines your degree of fitness by rating your performance based on your pulse at the end of your workout.

As the name implies, the Body Fat software calculates your BMI (Body Mass Index).

The console is quite simple to use. Turning the main knob clockwise increases resistance. Body Fat and Recovery each have their own set of keys.

There’s also a Reset key that resets all the values on the console to zero, as well as a Stop/Start button that comes in handy if you need to pause your exercise or switch between elliptical and other routines.

The turn knob is also used to navigate between the programs, and the huge iConsole button is used to pick the selected program.

When you connect to the machine, the computer unit turns on. It does not require batteries because your power supply powers it.

It includes a sleep mode that activates after 4 minutes of inactivity and no pulse reading on the machine. Once the pedals are moved, it wakes up.

Last but not least, the console has a tablet holder (sometimes known as a reading rack). It can hold tablets of various sizes and function as a phone holder.

Assembly

The ASUNA 4300 arrives in a half-assembled state. To put it another way, the motor, flywheel, pulley, and crankset are already constructed.

The base tubes, the console mast, movable arms, pedal bars and pedals, fixed handlebars, wiring connections, and console all require assembly. It’s a simple activity that anyone can complete without too much difficulty, and it shouldn’t take more than two hours.

The assembly instructions in the included booklet are great. The necessary tools are also provided.

The machine’s internal components do not require any maintenance. They’re all oiled with industrial lubricants before they’re used. However, after a while, joints may demand lubrication.

Aside from that, it’s a good idea to inspect the machine’s nuts and joints regularly.

Summary

Health & Fitness in the Sun The ASUNA 4300 is a rear-drive, mid-range elliptical trainer with 16 levels of automated magnetic resistance.

Its console has five pre-programmed routines, each with various levels and BMI and Recovery capabilities. It’s a machine that provides light to medium exercises for beginners and advanced users.

It’s excellent for cardio, recovery, muscular toning, and weight reduction.

Depending on the program or resistance levels employed, you may burn up to 5-600 calories per hour on this machine. In all, it’s not the most affordable elliptical, but does come with a fairly decent price/value ratio.
