Although it is not a piece of commercial-grade equipment, it should suffice for a modest, low-impact cardio workout at home.

Its features and design are identical to the Efitment 006. It’s a manual resistance machine with a simple dashboard and no pre-programmed workouts.

The frame of the Marcy NS-40501E is built of steel tubing. It’s built to last; according to the handbook, it should support persons weighing up to 300 pounds (136 kg).

This elliptical trainer for home usage features eight degrees of manual magnetic resistance. It has a console that can keep track of time, mileage, total distance, speed, and calories expended.

It is strong enough to sustain persons weighing up to 300 pounds. Overall, it’s a fantastic machine for mild cardio exercise, rehabilitation, muscle toning, stamina improvement, and weight loss.

Frame and Construction

Of course, there are various ABS components in the machine’s structure. Some of them are the pedals and the flywheel and resistance system coverings.

This model is modest compared to other ellipticals like the Kettler ELYX1 or the LifeFitness E1.

The NS-40501E is just 49″ (125 cm) long and 24″ (61 cm) broad when fully assembled.

Consequently, it should be able to fit into even a tiny room or apartment. However, for safe access and operation, it is advised that at least two feet of space be left all around the unit.

The machine isn’t very hefty. It weighs around 73 lbs when fully assembled (33 kg). This weight provides a great deal of stability.

It also has adjustable levelers on the back base and transport wheels on the front base to make moving easier.

This Marcy elliptical trainer includes two sets of handlebars, one fixed and one movable.

The unit’s console is not telemetric, and the fixed handlebars do not include pulse sensors like other machines.

Consequently, you’ll need to utilize a separate monitor to keep track of your pulse during your workouts.

The moveable handlebars are somewhat long, with the top of the handlebars around 64″ (163 cm) above the floor level.

They also feature ovalized grips on the top. Both sets of handlebars include rubberized grips to avoid slippage and provide maximum comfort during exercises.

The unit’s pedals, as previously stated, are comprised of a sturdy, thick ABS plastic.

However, their supporting bars are composed of steel. Consequently, they should handle individuals weighing up to 300 pounds (136 kilograms) without issue.

The pedals are rather spacious, and they can suit a wide range of sports shoes.

They include a ribbed surface with front and side borders for added foot stability.

The pedals on gym-grade equipment, on the other hand, do not have any articulation or additional shock-absorbing features.

Nonetheless, the machine provides a very low-impact ride.

The pedals may be adjusted in position.

A metallic pedal arm has three connecting holes on each side. Consequently, each pedal can be connected closer to the front or closer to the back.

One final point to highlight is the unit’s paint finish.

The powder coating of the NS-40501E is non-corrosive. Gray was chosen since it was the only color accessible for this trainer.

Step-up Height and Stride Length

Its elliptical path is slightly tilted forward since it is an elliptical machine with a rear driving mechanism.

Consequently, it may give the impression of marching down a gentle ramp. This doesn’t always mean that it’s a bad thing. On the contrary, it should provide the glutes with a more constant exercise.

The stride of the machine isn’t particularly long. It’s only 12″(31 cm). Consequently, a ride on this machine may not be enjoyable for someone taller than 6’0″ (183 cm), as they will not benefit from the complete range of motion.

If you are a tall and big guy, you should find an elliptical with a long stride length (18+″ stride length is recommended).

Regardless, depending on how quickly they cycle, everyone can get a good cardio exercise on this machine.

The height of the pedal step-up is approximately 10″ (25.4 cm). In addition, the pedal’s highest point is around 16″ (40.6 cm). Consequently, it’s best to operate the machine in a room with a ceiling that’s at least 20″ higher than your own.

The Q-Factor of the elliptical is not given. The distance between the pedals, on the other hand, isn’t particularly large, being only a few inches.

Consequently, the machine does not cause additional lateral stress on the knees and ankles when exercising.

Resistance Level

A manual magnetic resistance system is included with the Marcy NS-40501E. You don’t need to connect it to a power source to adjustable resistance.

In addition, the console has no bearing on the resistance adjustment of the machine.

The resistance system consists of a steel wire connecting a tiny magnetic brake to the tension knob on the console mast.

The brake alters its position regarding the metallic flywheel as the knob is turned, resulting in greater or less resistance on the pedals.

There are eight different tension levels to choose from.

There is practically little opposition at the initial level. Consequently, people with certain limitations will benefit from exercising at this stress level.

The 8th resistance level, on the other hand, provides a lot of pedal stress. Although the peak resistance of the machine cannot be compared to that of a commercial-grade elliptical, it nevertheless allows you to burn more calories and increase your aerobic activity.

The flywheel’s weight isn’t disclosed.

However, the internal flywheel isn’t particularly heavy because this isn’t a hefty elliptical trainer.

It should weigh between 12 and 20 pounds (5.4 and 9.0 kg).

A perimeter-weighted flywheel is used. This implies it maintains a fairly constant momentum and motion. It’s also a two-way system.

In other words, you may bike in reverse if you wish, and the console will continue to count your calories burnt, or miles traveled while you’re doing so.

The Marcy NS-40501E elliptical, like other exercise equipment with magnetic resistance, has a belt drive mechanism.

The pedaling motion is nearly totally quiet, thanks to a belt. The belt also doesn’t need to be lubricated.

The machine’s crank mechanism is remarkably long-lasting.

Steel crank arms are used on this machine. They can withstand people weighing up to 300 pounds (136 kg).

Stainless steel ball bearings link the moving handlebars to the pedal arms and the console mast and connect the moving handlebars to the pedal arms and the console mast.

Console

The console on this Marcy elliptical trainer is the same as on the Marcy NS-40504U upright bike.

It comes with an LCD that keeps track of time, distance, pace, and calories burned.

It also includes an odometer feature that tells you how many kilometers you’ve covered on the bike so far. The machine lacks a pulse reading feature.

As previously stated, the meter unit is not telemetric, and there are no pulse sensors embedded into the handlebars.

Consequently, if you need to track your pulse throughout your workout, you’ll need to utilize a different gadget.

The distance and speed are shown in imperial units (mph and miles).

There is no option to use metric units. The console has no built-in preset programs because it is a basic machine.

It does, however, allow you to set time, distance, and calorie goals. You may give any of these measures a value, and it will start counting down from that number until it hits zero. The machine is really simple to use.

MODE, SET, and RESET are the three major buttons. The SCAN feature of the machine may be turned on and off using the MODE button.

The display shows each exercise metric for 4 seconds when the SCAN feature is turned on.

You may set time, distance, and calorie objectives using the SET button. The RESET button, on the other hand, resets all of the settings to zero.

Two 1.5V (AA) batteries are required and are not included with the item.

When you start pedaling or pressing a button, it starts up. It also features a sleep mode that kicks on after 4 minutes of no movement on the bike.

Finally, the console has a tablet holder built-in. This tablet stand is large enough to hold any size tablet. The tablet, however, does not have a USB or connection port on the console.

Assembly

The assembly of this Marcy elliptical machine isn’t very difficult.

It comes with a pre-assembled base frame that includes the driving and resistance parts.

Consequently, all you have to do now is connect the stabilizer bars, pedal bars, pedals, console mast, moving arms, stationary handlebars, and console.

This may take more than an hour. The assembly instructions and schematics in the handbook are rather clear, and some of the equipment needed for the assembly is already provided.

The machine’s joints may require lubrication from time to time for maintenance.

Internal parts, on the other hand, shouldn’t require any lubrication. It’s also a good idea to check the machine for loose nuts and parts regularly.
