One of the latest elliptical trainers introduced in 2019 is the SNODE E20i. It is similar to the Sunny SF-E3912 in terms of features. However, it has a lower weight capacity and fewer training routines. It’s also one of the most cost-effective ellipticals with an automated resistance mechanism on the market.

The SNODE E20i is a home-use elliptical trainer featuring a console with 12 training programs, BMI, Recovery, and Bluetooth capabilities, and an automated magnetic resistance system with 16 tension levels.

It boasts a solid build and a tiny size, making it an ideal apartment-size elliptical. It’s ideal for a low-impact cardio workout, interval training, recovery training, increasing stamina, and weight loss.

Overall, it’s one of the most affordable ellipticals with an automatic resistance system and online connectivity.

Parts and Frame

The robust steel frame of the SNODE E20i is built of thick steel tubing. It is, however, not a particularly hefty machine; the completely completed frame weighs just 77.2 lbs (35 kg).

It also saves room; it’s just 47″ (119 cm) long and 24″ (61 cm) broad, so it shouldn’t take up more than 70″L x 60″W of space (178 x 152 cm).

It can easily fit into a tiny room or apartment. The machine’s frame is painted gray with a rust-resistant paint finish, and this is the only variant offered.

Of course, the unit’s structure includes various ABS components. The drive and resistance element covers and the joint covers, and a few other minor covers are constructed of durable ABS plastic in a black/gray hue.

The rear base of the machine is outfitted with a series of polygonal covers that may rotate and act as levelers.

On the other hand, the front base has two little wheels that make moving the elliptical easier.

The E20i does not fold, in case you were wondering. It can only be stored as it is after it has been constructed. Two handlebars are included with the SNODE E20i.

One pair is stationary, while the other is movable. The machine’s primary upright bar is directly linked to the fixed handlebars. They have pulse sensors built-in. Because the moveable arms are attached to the pedal bars, they can’t be locked, so they’ll keep moving as long as you cycle.

Long, rubbery grips with rounded tops are featured on these gloves. The pedals of the machine are composed of heavy-duty ABS plastic.

They’re made to hold people weighing up to 265 pounds (120 kg). They have a non-slip surface but are devoid of further cushioning or articulation.

They include side guards for further foot stability and are spacious enough to fit sports footwear of various sizes. They do not, however, have a means for adjusting their posture.

Step-up Height & Stride Length

It is an elliptical with a compact footprint and has a short stride of 13.7″ (33.5 cm). It can easily accommodate users between the ages of 4’5″ and 6’1″ (135 – 185 cm).

Taller people should be able to utilize this equipment, although their range of motion will be restricted. The stride is set and cannot be changed.

The SNODE E20i, unlike the Schwinn 430, does not feature an inclination mechanism. So, the elliptical path’s angle cannot be changed. The elliptical route of the unit is oval and slightly inclined forward.

So, a ride on this machine is similar to descending a gentle ramp or slope. This puts a greater emphasis on the glutes and aids in thigh toning.

The step-up pedal height is approximately 6″ (16 cm), and the pedals reach approximately 12″ (32 cm) above floor level at their maximum point.

So, this elliptical trainer should be used in a room with a ceiling at least 15″ (38 cm) higher than your height.

Resistance Level

For a little machine, the SNODE E20i has a surprisingly hefty flywheel. It has a balanced build and is designed to give a smooth and steady pedaling motion.

It weighs 22 lbs (10 kg). It can also be used in both directions. So, if you choose, you may pedal in reverse. This allows you to spice up your routines with some variety.

An automated magnetic resistance mechanism is included with this SNODE elliptical trainer.

This necessitates connecting it to a power source. It comes with an adaptor and a power cord. It also implies that the resistance can only be altered from the console and that the console can modify the resistance automatically if specific applications are running.

A magnetic bracket attached to the flywheel assembly and a servo motor make up the unit’s resistance system.

So, when you modify the resistance, the motor shifts the brake’s location about the flywheel, making cycling more or less difficult. There are 16 levels of resistance on the machine.

The first level is rather easy, allowing you to practice on a basic level. This is ideal for people who need recovery training, have particular limitations, or are old.

On the other hand, the highest resistance settings give significantly greater pedaling effort, which is ideal for anyone who wishes to maintain a more constant training schedule.

Belt transmission is used in most elliptical trainers and exercise bikes with magnetic resistance systems.

This is not the case with the SNODE E20i. It has a strong, stretch-resistant belt that eliminates the need for lubrication.

It also provides a vibration-free, silent pedaling action.

Console

The SNODE E20i’s console has a lot of similarities to the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RB4880 recumbent bike’s interface.

It contains the same preset programs as the original, as well as a BMI calculator and a Recovery function. It does, however, have a Bluetooth connection.

The machine’s console features an LCD monitor with seven sub-sections. It displays the following information: time, distance, speed, calories, and pulse.

However, because it is not telemetric, it can only read your pulse rate using internal sensors. It is incompatible with any HR chest or wrist straps.

There are 12 preloaded programs organized into three categories on the console.

Beginner, Advanced, and Sporty are the three levels. You may choose from a variety of difficulty settings before starting each program.

There are also recovery and BMI functions accessible. You may determine your body fat percentage using the BMI tool, which considers your weight, height, and gender.

The pulse sensors are required for the Recovery feature, which should be utilized at the end of your workout.

It determines how long it takes for your pulse to return to normal following an exercise and assigns you a fitness grade between F1 (good) and F6 (poor).

These two functions have quick selection buttons on the console, whereas you’ll have to utilize the dial/button in the center to pick the other programs.

Bluetooth is also available on the console. So, you can connect it to your smartphone or tablet and have your workout data streamed immediately into your online fitness account.

It works with the iConsole app, available for iOS and Android machines. This software will keep track of your online progress and provide you with a few extra functions.

Finally, the console lacks a speaker, a cooling fan, or a USB connector for your machine, although it does have a tablet holder.

This add-on is mounted directly above the unit’s controls and is large enough to hold any tablet.

Assembly

The machine’s main body is already constructed. The two base bars, the console mast, the console, the fixed handlebars, the mobile arms, the pedals, and a few other tiny elements are all that’s left to do.

The supplied handbook contains all of the essential assembly instructions and a basic toolset.

The assembly isn’t difficult and shouldn’t take more than an hour.

You won’t have to bother about the maintenance after the installed equipment.

The internal components should not require any lubrication or maintenance for a long time.

So, all you have to do is maintain your elliptical clean, keep liquids away from the console, lube the joints if necessary, and check for loose bolts regularly.
