The XTERRA EU100 is a piece of workout equipment that combines an elliptical trainer and an upright cycle into one machine. It’s a piece of fitness equipment designed for home use, yet it has a respectable weight capacity of 265 lbs.

It has a strong frame, a manual magnetic resistance system, a 4-way seat adjustment, and an exercise meter, making it ideal for light to moderate aerobic exercises, muscle toning, interval training, stamina building, and weight loss.

It’s also one of the most economical hybrid trainers on the market right now.

Construction

The XTERRA Fitness EU100 hybrid trainer has a strong steel frame that can support 265 pounds (120 kg).

It does, however, use a few ABS plastic pieces in its manufacture. The flywheel and brake system covers, the pedal trays, and various other minor covers.

The strong and wide pedal bars provide great support for pedal trays and users. The machine’s steel tubes have been powder coated with a corrosion-resistant paint finish.

The color chosen is black, the only option for this model. The XTERRA EU100 is not a huge machine compared to many other elliptical trainers.

It’s just 42.5″ (108 cm) long and 24.5″ (62 cm) broad when all the pieces are put together.

The highest point is the top of the moving arms, which may reach 61.5″ (156 cm) above floor level.

However, at least two feet of space is advised to be left around the machine for easy access and unrestricted use.

The item isn’t overly heavy when fully built. It weighs about 70.5 lbs (32 kg); thus, only one person should put it together.

However, it is sufficiently hefty and has a low center of gravity to give excellent stability.

In addition, the machine’s rear base bar has a set of polygonal caps that can be rotated to properly steady the machine.

It is simple to relocate the machine once it has been fully completed. It has a set of wheels on the front base that make it easy to transport it to its storage location. Seat, pedals, and handlebars are all included.

They are non-adjustable and lack the additional cushioning seen in pricier machines. However, they provide a comfortable foot location during the activity reduces the strain on your knees and ankles.

They also have front guards and a textured surface for added foot stability. The pedal trays are composed of sturdy ABS plastic, as previously stated.

Resistance Level

The XTERRA Fitness EU100 elliptical, upright bike includes a manual magnetic resistance mechanism.

This means you won’t need to plug it into a power source. Additionally, there are no preset programs on the console that automatically alter the resistance.

The unit’s resistance mechanism consists of an internal magnetic brake connected to the tension dial on the machine’s front mast via a steel cable.

You must move the dial clockwise to increase the resistance. The magnetic brake will travel closer to the flywheel, causing additional drag and increasing pedaling difficulty.

There are eight tension issues (or ‘clicks’). The lowest difficulty setting provides extremely mild resistance, ideal for recuperation exercises.

However, the eighth tension level provides significantly greater resistance, allowing you to increase your heart rate.

The internal flywheel of the machine isn’t particularly hefty. It is 11 pounds in weight (5 kg). So you shouldn’t expect any additional stress on your knees due to the machine’s lack of forceful inertia.

Nonetheless, because the machine’s resistance mechanism is magnetic, it may still deliver a reasonable level of pedaling effort.

On this machine, you can also pedal backward. Even if you’re cycling backward, the console will keep track of your exercise stats.

In addition, the specified difficulty setting will ensure that the resistance remains consistent when cycling in reverse.

A heavy-duty, stretch-resistant belt is used in the internal drivetrain.

Console

Only imperial units are used to display speed and distance (MPH and miles).

For metric units, there is no option. Also, the console unit is not telemetric, if you were wondering. Only if you hang on to the sensors built into the stationary handlebars can it track your pulse.

Any wireless HR chest strap transmitter will not work with it. The console machine is simple to operate.

Mode, Set, and Reset are the three buttons. You may use the Mode button for cycling through the exercise stats and choosing the one you wish to view on the screen.

Alternatively, you may use the Scan Mode, which rotates all metrics for 6 seconds.

You may set an objective for time, distance, or calories by using the Set button.

This equipment does not allow for the selection of pulse targets. The console will count down from the specified target until it reaches zero. Finally, except for the overall distance, the Reset key allows you to reset all values to zero (odometer).

Two AA batteries are required to power the machine. When you start pedaling or press any buttons, it immediately turns on. It also includes a self-shutdown feature that kicks in after four minutes of inactivity on the machine.

Assembly

The machine’s main body, including all driving and resistance parts, is pre-assembled.

There are, however, a few elements that you will need to put together. Attach the two base bars, the front mast, the pedal bars, the pedal trays, the fixed and movable arms, the seat post, the seat, connect the tension wire, and attach the console as a general rule.

It might take up to two hours to complete this task. However, the supplied handbook has all of the essential assembly instructions. There’s also a basic toolbox supplied.

The machine doesn’t require much maintenance after it’s put together.
